Despite a few minor complications (like a semi-truck of Gatorade wrecked on I-75) the 1st ever OFFL Draft at Hooters was alot of fun. Fortunately for Pete and Mike that we were having the draft at Hooters, because if we'd been somewhere less distracting we may have just started without them.

We didn't get a chance to do a few things that we would have liked - no introductions, explanations of team names, etc. but hopefully we can figure all of that out this season. And with Pete running late, he was fairly flustered and didn't even take any pictures with the digital camera he asked me to bring.

Boooo... Pete!

But we have a few shots of the table and the waitresses to share.

In the picture at the top, we have (from left to right) one of the waitresses - Tiffany, the owner of Flying Wedge - Bill Killen, the owner of Mad Dog's Revenge - Mike DeHaven, another waitress, then Pink Taco Squad owner - John Austad, and some dork who looks really surprised he made it to the draft at all. The dancing was just one of the many distractions that afternoon...

I can't imagine what made Wedge take Bubba Franks in the sixth round or Flying Gators to take Fred Taylor in the fourth?

What else could they have thinking?

Well, at least we all have our waitress, Nikki to use as an excuse for the bad picks we made. Of course, that leaves you asking the question, why didn't the Westsiders make more bad picks? Here we can see the Westsiders celebrating their great draft... coincidence?

I mean it was a great draft, but...

Of course not everyone's afternoon went so well.

Pete seemed to have other things on his mind.

Pete!?....

Others seemed really convinced that they had a great draft.
Here's John (Pink Taco) explaining to my wife's best friend, Scarlett,
that he's going to own this league. I don't think she's buying it.

Hopefully, the draft was fun for everyone, as having fun really is the main goal.
And hopefully, you will be back next year and we can plan the draft to fall on a better day...
as we missed out wait staff in these outfits.

And we are going to try and have at least one weekend where we get together on Sunday and watch games.
Nothing formal and certainly not mandatory, but hopefully we can work that out.

Oh! And some breaking news!
As some may have seen on the message board, Pete tells us he will be featured next month
in a special football edition of Playgirl Magazine. Apparently they had the photoshoot right
after the draft, and I just happened to obtain one of the photos before the magazine is out.

Nice Hooters Shorts! But the pic looks a little airbrushed to me.
